Career Exploration

KCS offers three unique courses for our students to aid in the career exploration process:

 9th Grade: 21st Century Skills & Careers

 11th Grade: Junior Seminar

 12th Grade: Senior Seminar

Job Shadow Program

The Job Shadow experience is part of the required Senior Seminar course taken during the senior year. Students are required to research a vocational interest, locate professionals who are working in the area of interest, make the contacts, and ultimately job shadow an individual(s) in the field.

This experience is then documented in the required research paper that is written in the course. In the past, KCS students have had experiences out of state, in NYC, Albany, and at local agencies and area schools. The Job Shadow permission form can be picked up in the Counseling office.

Online Resources

Additionally, there are many great online resources to use as tools to explore various vocational options. For assistance in finding and navigating these websites or for further discussion about the content, please see Mrs. Johnson in the Counseling office.
