Megan Wellford was overtaken by the magic of Keene Central School when she began to work as one of its after school program coordinators in 2007. As a result, she decided to earn a Master of Science in Teaching degree from Plattsburgh State over the next two years. After many great field experiences associated with this program, Megan was fortunate enough to be hired as the sixth grade teacher at KCS. She has enjoyed the creative and challenging work environment ever since.
Megan has always loved working with children, particularly in the outdoors. She enjoys encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement that many children display. She began her career in education at Great Esker Park in Massachusetts during high school and college.
Megan graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 2003 with a degree in English Cultural Studies and American History. After moving to the area, she mentored at-risk youth for the Essex County Youth Advocate Program. She also taught skiing at Whiteface Mountain during the winter months. She enjoyed volunteering for the Four Winds Nature Program before her KCS career began.
Megan runs the Junior Program of the Adirondack Trail Improvement Society in the summer months, and feels fortunate to get to hike and canoe for a job! When she is not in the classroom or on the trail, she enjoys visiting her family and friends, skiing, and reading.
Megan lives in Keene with her husband. They are looking forward to their next big adventure together, which will involve raising a son within the unique and nurturing KCS community.
