Performance Opportunities
There are many opportunities for KCS students to perform. Each year we have at least a Spring Concert and a Winter Concert for the K-12 students. Additionally, students audition for and perform in a Talent Show at the end of the school year.
Every other year, the Music Department produces a Spring Musical. Our most recent was Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. This cast consisted of all students from grades 6 – 12 who auditioned, as well as some younger students whose parents helped with the production.
Past productions, such as Annie, Grease, Pirates of Penzance, Little Mary Sunshine, Oklahoma, etc. have featured students as age appropriate for each show. In addition to these musicals, sometimes concert performances take place in the form of musicals, most recently – Wizard of OZ, Paint the Town December, and Scrooge.
There are many other opportunities for KCS students to perform in the community. In the past some of these opportunities have been: Christmas Caroling at the Neighborhood House; various services at the Keene Valley Congregational Church including Gift of the Magi, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Battle of the Bands; Memorial Day parades and observances; Veteran’s Day observances; and performing for the students at Little Peaks preschool.
These opportunities are only limited by the students’ desires to perform.
