Special Education/AIS
Special education services at Keene Central School are available for any student who has been tested/evaluated and reviewed by the school’s multidisciplinary Committee on Special Education (CSE).
If the student is eligible to receive special education services, the CSE develops and implements an appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP). An IEP describes the individualized/group instruction or related services specifically designed to meet the unique educational needs of a student with a disability.
An IEP is the guiding document for a student's educational program. It includes all of the goals, objectives, present levels of performance and related services that are recommended for the student.
Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are provided for students at Keene Central School who are determined to be at risk of not meeting the NYS Learning Standards in English language arts, mathematics, social studies and/or science.
Students receive customized instruction and support services which supplement the instruction provided in the general curriculum. AIS assist students in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to meet or exceed designated performance levels.
