Advanced Placement
Students at Keene Central School have the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Placement (AP) Program. Advanced Placement credits are earned by successfully completing an AP exam which, depending upon the score, will allow the student advanced standing and/or credit at most colleges and universities.
Exams are taken in May of the year the student takes the course. Exams are graded on a scale of 1-5. Most colleges require a minimum score of 3 (out of 5) on the exam in order to receive credit. There is a fee associated with the exam. AP exams are offered in connection with the following courses at Keene Central School:
AP US History |
up to 6 credits |
AP English |
up to 6 credits |
AP Biology |
up to 8 credits |
AP Environmental Science |
up to 8 credits |
Students are encouraged to challenge AP exams if appropriately prepared in a particular academic area.
